FREE STORYTELLING WORKSHEET

Plot the Chapters Of Your Career

Like any great novel, your career has distinct chapters that add up to a greater whole.

Whether you need to update your resume because you’re in a time of job transition, or you just want to find the common thread of your non-linear career, this worksheet will help you uncover important moments on your professional journey, and turn them into powerful stories.

Through these fun storytelling prompts, you’ll answer questions like:

🔎 What distinct career chapters can you identify?

✍️ What creative name would you give each chapter?

👍 What did you LIKE (or DISLIKE) about the WORK, PEOPLE, and COMPENSATION?

🎓 What did each chapter teach you?

📍 What do these chapters tell you about where you want to go in your career next?

I encourage you to carve out 30-60 minutes to take an intentional pause to reflect on your career stories

When you do, you’ll unearth important details about how you became the person you are today.

You’ll start to see every line of your resume like a goldmine for finding powerful stories from your professional journey.

And you’ll see yourself as the main character of your own career story, setting out on quests, overcoming obstacles, and, ultimately, growing and evolving with every experience.
Ultimately, that newfound clarity on where you’ve been will allow you to confidently take control of the career story you want to write next.

This worksheet is completely free. It’s my gift to you. But if you want to make me smile, email me at liz@lizmorrison.com with the name of one of your career chapters and one thing you learned from doing this exercise.

I hope this worksheet helps you find, shape, and share powerful stories from your career!
